Royal Cariot Museum: Kareta Garudo Yeksa Coated With 20 Kg of Gold

Made in the Netherlands in 1861 at the time of Sri Sultan HB VI. Kareta is used for the coronation of Sultan,  pulled by 8 horses with has the same color especial male. Cleaning ceremony conducted every year once every month of Suro.

Referred to as Kareta Kencana (Royal Cariot). Everything in this pristine chariot including symbol / emblem of his Garuda bird, made of 18 carat gold weighing 20kg. Only polished or cleaned at the time there will be a coronation ceremony because if too often burnished gold will be eroded. It is said that about 6-7gram gold will be lost every time scrubbed / cleaned.

The shape of his crown made of brass with a top shaped like Monas since Sukarno’s (First Indonesian President) supposed to use this form to make a crown design Monas National Museum). Design came from Sri Sultan HB I. Unique..  when the door is opened there will be stairs down by itself, as often found on the doors of the aircraft. Horse handler only 1 person.  This chariot  is still used until now.
