Kamasan Village
Situated on the south of Klungkung, a tiny village of Kamasan is fully packed with artists’ homes and studios. The village is home to traditional Balinese paintings. It is particularly famous as the center of classical wayang paintings that somehow leads back to similar figures of puppets in ancient Java.
They introduce religious subjects, astrological charts and calendars in stunning colors. Almost every member of families in the village involve themselves in the making process of a painting.
For the best painting, there is always a price to pay. I Nyoman Mandra, the foremost artist from this village, can be best recommended artist to visit for his fine reputation. Solid picture and detailed coloring and shading are some of his characteristics.
Meanwhile, other parts of the village are home for crafts of gold and silver.
