Kraton Yogyakarta Batik Museum was inaugurated by Sri Sultan HB X on October 31, 2005. The museum occupies one of the buildings in the compound Kraton Yogyakarta. In the museum collections are stored various batik cloth batik to equipment from the HB HB VIII to X. Born in Yogyakarta with a GRM Dorojatun on April 12, 1912, Hamengkubuwono IX is the son of Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII and Queen Raden Maya Kustilah. At the age of 4 years Hamengkubuwono IX lived apart from his family. He was educated in HIS school in Yogyakarta, MULO schoolin Semarang, and AMS school in Bandung, he called Sultan Henkie.
